If not, you may wish to consider this as a whole new experience which can be exceptionally thrilling and fruitful. Most people prefer to fish in the day where they could see a lot better. However, if you are familiar with the surrounding area or the stream/river that you are going to fish on, have a go at night trout fishing.
The technique used may need to be modified slightly as you sight is limited when fishing in the dark. Unlike in the day, it is believed that during the night is one of the best time to catch more fishes and especially the big ones.
At night, the waters are quite and undisturbed.
This means that the water has a whole different look and smell. Once your eyes adjust to the dimness of the night and you distinguish the different sounds, then you will begin to see the difference the night makes. Fish tend to hide from shadows they see in the daytime and all the surrounding noise sends them into hiding as well.
At night they feel more comfortable and they move more freely about.
This puts in them in areas that make it easier to catch them. They are
more likely to take the bait that you are producing because they are ready to feed. What this means for you is that trout fishing at night will give you more access to the fish. Even open places can be filled with trout during the night hours.
When fishing, remember to always approach the water quietly.
Move slowly and gently if you are wading in the water. Always avoid letting your light shine directly into the water as this will scare the fish away. To help keep you from getting your lines tangled up when night fishing you can use short casts and very slow strokes.
If you are not familiar with technique, practice first in the day until you are good at it before venturing out at night. Trout fishing at night can be a little more treacherous than the day and may not be a good idea as a night family activity especially if you have small children. Besides the noises they make can scare away the fish.
Go with like-minded people and as long as you are careful and know the area in which you are fishing you should be safe.
One thing is for sure trout fishing at night is undoubtedly a whole new experience that you will not soon forget.

Cover – Cover is simply objects in bodies of water – fish often use “cover” such as tree lines to get into shady water or they will swim around stumps, logs or weed patches perhaps for a sense of security. These cover areas are usually ideal places to find fish, so a fisherman may want to cast into such areas.
